Chelsea still interested in striker despite summer collapse

Chelsea are still interested in signing Samu Omorodion despite missing out on the striker in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea agreed a fee of £34.5m to sign Omorodion from Atletico Madrid in the summer, with reports in Spain suggesting the deal fell through after the Blues changed the conditions of the transfer at a late stage.

The 20-year-old instead signed for FC Porto for a reduced fee of €15m, for 50% of his sports rights, and Omorodion has had a blistering start in Portugal. He has scored 11 goals in just nine appearances, including a brace against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claim Chelsea are still interested in a deal for the 6ft 4in forward, having failed to sign competition for Nicolas Jackson in the summer. The West Londoners also held talks with Victor Osimhen but were unable to reach an agreement.

Porto have reserved the right to purchase a further 30% of the rights to Omorodion in 2025 and 2026, for €5m each year.
