Chelsea enjoyed a solid 1-0 win over PAOK of Greece in the Europa League on Thursday night. Maurizio Sarri’s men have now won all six of their competitive games and sit joint top of the Premier League.
However, The Blues’ Brazilian attacker, Willian, was not completely happy with Chelsea’s wasteful performance in front of goal. Chelsea had 22 shots but only 5 on target, against PAOK.
“We had control of the game,’’ Willian told Chelsea’s official website.
“We could have had a better result. We scored a goal that was very important, but at the same time we have to be more clinical because we missed a lot of chances and we have to improve on that, but at least we got the three points.”
Sarri and his team will be glad to have started off their Europa League campaign with a win, however. PAOK’s fans turned the Toumba Stadium into a cauldron of noise and light for the game. It did not seem to phase Chelsea, though.
They were rarely threatened by the Greek side and, but for their missing shooting-boots, would have won by a more convincing scoreline. Something Willian, who scored the Blues winner, also alluded to in his interview.
“The atmosphere was unbelievable. They pushed us a bit more in the second half, but we stayed focused all the time”.
