Chelsea winger Willian has backed Manchester United’s new signing Fred to thrive in the Premier League, while interestingly describing the Red Devils as ‘one of the best teams in the world’.
United announced the agreement to sign the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder yesterday, with a medical and personal terms already thought to have been agreed, although they stopped short of announcing the deal was fully completed.
The £52 million man is reported to signed a five year deal, and has now returned to training with the Brazil national side where he will shortly jet off to Russia for this summer’s World Cup.
One of his international team-mates is of course Chelsea star Willian, who himself has also been linked with a move to Manchester United over the past few summers to be reunited with his former manager Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to the media, the 29-year-old was asked if Fred can thrive in the Premier League:
“Of course, no doubt, no doubt about that. He has a lot of quality, he can improve a lot,” said Willian.
“He goes to one of the best teams in the world and I’m happy for him.
“I hope he does well at Manchester United.”
