It is widely thought that Antonio Conte will take charge of his last Premier League game as Chelsea boss this weekend, but one of the Blues current crop has said he would be disappointed if that were the case.
Tiemoue Bakayoko was one of Chelsea’s big name signings last summer, making a £40 million move to the Premier League having helped guide Monaco to their first Ligue 1 title in almost 20 years.
While much was expected of the Frenchman, it has been a difficult season for the midfielder, who has seemingly struggled to adapt to the English game. However he has recently shown signs of improvement, with Thibaut Courtois expecting him to form a formidable partnership with N’Golo Kante next season.
Asked about speculation over Conte’s job, Bakayoko told Sky Sports News that he would be disappointed if the man who brought him to England were to leave:
“I don’t really pay attention to that.
“He’s never said that he might leave and he’s always extremely focused on winning, on doing well in the season.
“As a player, I would be disappointed [if he leaves]. We all like working with the coach and having this relationship in the long-term.
“I’ve been working with him for a year and I’ve progressed a lot under him but it’s really up to the club management, up to him and his entourage but he hasn’t said anything.”
