Chelsea have slapped a £60 million price tag on Alvaro Morata amid interest from the strikers’ former club, Juventus.
The Spain international joined the Blues from Real Madrid for a club record £58 million last summer. He began life in the Premier League in impressive fashion, scoring eight goals in first 11 games, but he has struggled for form and fitness the longer the season has gone on.
Despite a slight upturn in his performance levels over recent weeks, Morata was tellingly left on the bench for Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Southampton in favour of January signing Olivier Giroud, although he did score after coming on as a late substitute.
According to Tuttosport Juve are interested in bringing the 25-year-old back to Serie A during the summer transfer window.
Morata enjoyed two hugely successful seasons in Turin between 2014-2016, winning two Scudetto’s and reaching the Champions League final.
His future at Stamford Bridge will of course depend on whether whichever coach replaces Antonio Conte this summer sees the talented striker as part of his plans.
