Chelsea are set to rekindle their interest in Everton attacker Ross Barkley in January, according to reports in The Sun.
The 24-year-old came close to joining the Premier League Champions in the summer, but the move broke down at the last minute.
Barkley has long been talked up as being one of England’s best young talents, and although he has shown flashes of brilliance at times during his Toffees career he has never really managed to produce top-class displays on a regular basis.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte clearly believes he can help unlock some of the England internationals undoubted talent, and has ordered his club to make a bid for the player when the transfer window opens next month.
Barkley has yet to feature for Everton this season after suffering a serious hamstring injury, but he is expected to return to first-team training in the next couple of weeks.
With the players contract expiring in the summer, Chelsea will expect to only have to pay a fraction of the £35 million they offered the Goodison Park club in August come January.
