Chelsea set to make Kante the highest paid player in their history

Chelsea are set to offer N’Golo Kante a new mega money contract that will see the midfield powerhouse become the highest paid player in Blues history.

According to the Times, Chelsea have grown concerned by French Champions PSG’s efforts to entice Kante back to his homeland, and are now about to offer the 27-year-old a new five year contracts worth a whopping £290,000-a-week, a deal that will see him comfortably overtake Chelsea’s current highest paid player Eden Hazard, who receives around £220,000.

Kante moved to English football in the summer of 2015 as a relative unknown when he joined Leicester City from French side Caen. The diminutive defensive midfielder’s almost superhuman abilities in the middle of the park were one of the main reasons for the Foxes unlikely Premier League title victory during his solitary season at the King Power stadium, before he moved to Stamford Bridge for £30 million in the summer of 2016.

Once in London, Kante continued to impress, winning another EPL crown under former Blues boss Antonio Conte. His stock continued to rise even further this summer after he played an integral part in France’s World Cup victory in Russia, which has led to rumours of a reported £100 million bid from PSG.

However, despite Real Madrid sniffing around the star duo of Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, it seems that Chelsea have identified Kante as the player they would least like to lose and their offer of a bumper new contract is a testament to that.
