Chelsea are set to enter the race for Spurs out-of-favour defender Toby Alderweireld this summer.

The Belgium international has not featured for Spurs since February 18, although his international manager Roberto Martinez confirmed this week that the talented centre-back is fully fit.

The Mirror are reporting that Alderweireld is seeking wage parity with the Premier Leagues other top centre halves like Virgil Van Dijk, who are paid around £150,000 per week.

However, Spurs are unwilling to break their strict wage structure and it looks likely that the 29-year-old will be sold this summer.

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, who are both looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squads, are both set to compete for his signature. Although European giants Barcelona and PSG are also credited with an interest.

Alderweireld joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and since proved himself to be one of the worlds most accomplished centre-backs.
