Chelsea set to bank sell-on fee boost from €71m AC Milan signing

Chelsea have benefitted from a sell-on clause after Strasbourg's sale of Diego Moreira to AC Milan.

Chelsea have benefitted from a sell-on clause after Strasbourg’s sale of Diego Moreira to AC Milan.

Strasbourg have sold the left-back to AC Milan in a club-record deal worth €71m (£60.9m), with a €51m fee guaranteed and a further €20m in potential add-ons.

Moreira joined Strasbourg from Chelsea for just £1.7m in 2024 and has thrived in Ligue 1, scoring six times and providing 13 assists over the last two league campaigns for the French side.

The 22-year-old never made a Premier League appearance for Chelsea, featuring just once in a League Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon.

However, the West Londoners are set to benefit from his major move to Milan after including a sell-on clause in his sale. The exact percentage has not been specified, though it’s likely to be a substantial sum given the massive profit Strasbourg have made on Moreira.

Milan have made their move for the four-cap Belgium international as new head coach Ruben Amorim looks to implement his wing-back system at the San Siro.
