Chelsea have told Borussia Dortmund the price that they must pay if they want to sign Michy Batshuayi on a permanent deal, and it won’t come cheap!
The Belgian moved to the Bundesliga club on transfer deadline day as part of a triple deal. Batshuayi joined Dortmund to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who went to Arsenal, while Olivier Giroud left Arsenal to join Chelsea, to replace Batshuayi. It was quite an impressive piece of business on all sides.
At their new clubs, every player has hit the ground running. Olivier Giroud scored twice in eight minutes at the weekend to complete a brilliant turnaround for Chelsea. Aubameyang has scored six goals in nine games for Arsenal while Batshuayi has scored nine in 14 appearances for BVB.
Sadly for him, his season is now over after it was confirmed that he had suffered an ankle ligament injury, which he confirmed via his twitter account.
“Well it’s not good news for now. My season is probably over and I won’t be able to pay Borussia Dortmund back for their confidence.
“Thank you all for the amazing amount of love I received since Sunday. Wishing my team-mates the best for the final days. See you soon.”
However, despite Chelsea already technically replacing Batshuayi with Giroud, they are reluctant to let him leave the club. It is thought that they still have the man they signed for £33 million from Marseille in their plans for next season.
There has been rumours that club record signing Alvaro Morata could end his spell at Stamford Bridge after just one season, leaving Batshuayi to battle it out with Giroud to be the main striker.
According to the London Evening Standard, the Blues have told Borussia Dortmund that if they want to sign him permanently, they will need to cough up £50 million!
