Maurizio Sarri praised the talents of loan signing Gonzalo Higuain as his Chelsea team prepares to play Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
Sarri highlighted the positive impact Higuain has had since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. He also discussed the developing partnership the Argentine international striker has forged with Eden Hazard since his arrival.
“I think that Gonzalo is a great player,” Sarri said in his pre-match press conference.
“He did very well everywhere, in Madrid, Naples and Milan, maybe not Milan.
“He is a great player and he is very useful for Eden. They are really very suitable to play together I think. It is important for us he is determined, the impact is really very good for us.”
Higuain’s Premier League debut came in Chelsea’s 4-0 hammering at Bournemouth. It was a night where a hugely disappointed Sarri was reported to have kept his team in the dressing room for 50 minutes after the final whistle.
Chelsea followed that result up with an impressive 5-0 home win over Huddersfield Town. Higuain managed to get his first two goals for The Blues as they coasted to victory against the Premier League’s bottom team.
Sarri brings his Chelsea team to the Etihad Stadium this Sunday to play top-of-the-table Manchester City.
