Chelsea have rejected an offer from Real Madrid for Thibaut Courtois according to reports in Italy.
Chelsea have been desperate to try and tie the Belgian international down to a new deal for a number of months, but have not been able to come to any resolution. Recent reports have claimed that the Blues have now given up hope of extending his stay and want to cash in on their number one ‘keeper, who has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.
Since then, he has been linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Liverpool, with both of last season’s Champions League finalists looking to strengthen between the sticks.
Real Madrid are the favourites to land the Belgian’s signature, with him having already plyed his trade in Spain, spending three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid earlier in his Chelsea career, and his children still living in the Spanish capital.
However according to reports from Italy, Real Madrid have made the first move to sign the 26-year-old, by submitting a £35m bid.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio claims that that offer has been rejected by the Premier League club, who believe it to be ‘derisory’.
Real are also tracking Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is on Chelsea’s list of transfer targets should Courtois’ leave. However Roma are hoping to receive around £70 million for the first choice Brazil ‘keeper.
