Chelsea are ready to splash the cash in the transfer market on three English player which could set them back a staggering £100 million according to reports in today’s media.
This is the claim made in today’s Telegraph who report that the Blues have made a fresh bid of £35m as they look to sign versatile Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Ox can play in a variety of roles, including right wing, centre midfielder and right wing back, and has also started this season off by playing at left wing back for Arsenal.
The 25-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his deal at the Emirates, is due to meet Arsene Wenger for talks today, with Chelsea hoping that he informs the Frenchman that he wants to leave the club.
Chelsea are also still working on a number of other deals, including trying to sign Danny Drinkwater from Leicester City. The deal could be worth a potential £40m, as Antonio Conte looks to reunite the Englishman with former Leicester team mate, N’Golo Kante, who made the same journey down the M1 last summer.
They have also not given up hope on a deal for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley. The Toffees have splapped a £50m price tag on the midfielders head, although following their own summer spending spree, it is thought they may accept a bid closer to £25m. Tottenham are also interested in signing Barkley, who like Oxlade Chamberlain, has just one year remaining on his current deal.
Aside from these three deals, Chelsea have also been linked with a whole host of other players as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the kick off of EFL Cup, and Champions League football next month.
Southampton trio Ryan Bertrand, Cedric Soares and Virgil van Dijk have all been linked, while they still maintain an interest in Alex Sandro from Juventus, despite the Italian Champions stating he is not for sale.
