Chelsea forward Liam Delap does not require surgery on his hamstring injury and is due to return to action in November.

Delap was withdrawn with a hamstring issue during the 2-0 win over Fulham before the international break. The 22-year-old’s injury saw Chelsea recall Marc Guiu from a loan spell at Sunderland, with Delap expected to spend a significant period of time on the sidelines.

However, Delap’s issue is not as bad as first feared. The summer signing has not required surgery and is due to return to training in November and resume action soon after.

The Athletic are reporting that Chelsea expect Delap to be out for a 10-week period, starting from the initial injury on August 30th.

Delap’s prognosis is positive news for Enzo Maresca, who should have the striker available for the festive period.

Chelsea host Barcelona in a huge Champions League showdown on November 25th, and London rivals Arsenal four days later, before a crucial run of games throughout December.

In the final month of the year, the West Londoners face seven games, including tough trips to Atalana (Champions League) and Newcastle United (Premier League).
