Chelsea prepared to pay €120m for Enzo Fernandez replacement

Chelsea are preparing a €120m (£103m) offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.

Chelsea are preparing a €120m (£103m) offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez as the club look to sign a replacement for Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea sanctioned the sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for a £125m on deadline day, but failed in a late attempt to sign a replacement.

A move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara was cancelled by the French side, while Roma’s refusal to sell Manu Kone saw Chelsea fail to land another target.

According to El Nacional, Chelsea are now looking at Fermin Lopez as their ideal Fernandez successor. According to the Spanish outlet, Xabi Alonso has been given the green light to pursue a move for Lopez that could cost in excess of £100m.

Barcelona do not want to sell the 23-year-old, who has started the new season in fine form. Lopez has four goals and two assists from four La Liga appearances for Hansi Flick’s side. However, a massive offer from the Premier League could reportedly tempt Barcelona and force them to ‘assess the situation’.
