Chelsea prepared to fight United for Sanchez

Despite Manchester United being tipped as clear favourites to secure the signature of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, Sky Sports are now reporting that Chelsea have not given up hope of securing a deal themselves.

It was reported earlier that Manchester City have now pulled out of the running for the Chile international, due to concerns over the cost of the deal. However, it has also been revealed that United are not the only Premier League club still fighting this intense transfer battle, and Chelsea are prepared to fight the Old Trafford club all the way for the talented attacker.

Antonio Conte tried to sign Sanchez when he was manger of Juventus in 2011, although the player decided to move from Udinese to Barcelona instead.

The Italian coach has of course been very vocal lately about his belief that the Stamford Bridge club need to add quality additions to their squad during this transfer window.

With Conte and Mourinho currently embroiled in a bitter feud, both their interest in signing the 29-year-old, simply adds excitement to what has been a dramatic few days of speculation surrounding the player.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, admitted yesterday that he believes a deal for Sanchez to leave The Emirates will be concluded imminently, so the next couple of days should be fascinating to see unfold.
