Chelsea make £39m bid for Luka Jovic

Chelsea are aiming to solve their striker problem with a £39m bid for Eintracht Frankfurt marksman Luka Jovic.

The Serbian forward, on loan from Benfica, has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona with his performances in the Bundesliga this season, climbing on top of the scoring charts with 14 goals so far.

Chelsea are hoping to beat the two Spanish giants to his signature however, after making a £39m bid, according to Bild.

In a recent interview Jovic acknowledged the reported interest in him but did not give much away.

“I’m honoured, of course, for such big clubs to show an interest in me,” he told Sportsbuzzer.

“But right now I’m happy to be here in Frankfurt and I feel good here.

“At the moment I’m just concentrating on Eintracht Frankfurt, that’s my top priority.

“I’m a striker, so my job is scoring. This is hard work, [but I get] great support and [there is] a very strong desire from me, which I try to fulfil.”

Eintracht drew 2-2 with Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday night in the first leg of their round of 32 Europa League tie.
