Chelsea line up Man United attacker as Hazard replacement

Chelsea are set to enter the race for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial when the summer transfer market opens in a couple of months.

The talented 22-year-old has become disillusioned with his lack of regular game time under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, although the Blues will face serious competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Spurs and European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Juventus.

According to a report in the Telegraph, despite Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte consistently complaining about a lack of transfer funding this season and the Stamford Bridge facing a sizeable financial hit if they miss out on the Champions League next season, owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to spend big this summer.

Last seasons Premier League Champions are attracted to Martial as he can play all across the front-line and also see the France international as a potential replacement for their star attacker Eden Hazard.

The Belgium international is still stalling on signing a contract extension at Stamford Bridge and although the club remain hopeful that they can convince the 26-year-old to stay in London, they are also concerned that he will try and force through a move if Real Madrid firm up their interest this summer.
