Former Chelsea captain and club legend Denis Wise has been speaking about what he thinks the Stamford Bridge outfit will do over the remainder of the January transfer window.
Speaking to Sky Sports the 51-year-old said:
“I am not sure Chelsea are going to do too much trading in this window, I really do not.
“I think they are done with Barkley. What they have got there is someone who is creative and they needed.
“Barkley has not really fulfilled what he should have as a talent and I am looking forward to actually see how he does playing with top-quality players and a manger who is going to make him work”
Wise played for Chelsea between 1990-2001 and became a fan’s favorite for his classy midfield play and bite in the tackle.
Many Blues supporters and the clubs manager Antonio Conte will be hopeful however, that his prediction of the club not doing any more business during the current transfer window prove to be wide of the mark.
The Stamford Bridge outfits Italian coach in particular, has been very vocal lately in regards to his belief that the club’s squad requires quality additions, if they are to close the gap between them and runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.
New signing Barkley was in the crowd during The Blues 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the quarter final of the Carabao Cup last night. The 24-year-old is still working his way back to full fitness after suffering a serious hamstring problem in pre-season, although Conte confirmed he is training well and should be available for first-team selection soon.
