Chelsea legend Drogba explains why Mourinho actually really likes Pogba

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has insisted the recent problems between Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and the club star midfielder Paul Pogba are actually a sign of how highly the Portuguese coach rates the player.

Speculation about the relationship between United’s coach and the club’s record signing has dominated the headlines over recent months.

Pogba has been dropped to the bench for most of his sides most important games recently, and it has been reported that the France international is no longer on speaking terms with his manager.

Drobga spent four hugely successful seasons playing for Mourinho at Chelsea, and is the top scoring African player in Premier League history. He has revealed that the pair seemingly being at odds with one another, is really his former coaches way of giving the star midfielder more responsibility.

“It was heated between us more than once, but Jose will never attack people he doesn’t like,”Drogba told Telefoot.

“He likes Paul a lot. It’s why he’s given him a lot of responsibility.” Drogba told Telefoot.

Despite the former Chelsea striker stating that this is nothing more than Mourinho’s way of getting the best out of his players, reports this week suggest United are preparing to sell Pogba in order to fund a major spending spree this summer.

However, if Drobga is right than this will be music to the ears of Luke Shaw, because if being told off by your manager is a sign that he actually rates you, Mourinho must really really like Shaw.
