Chelsea have launched a £25million move for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain according to reports.
This is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the the Gunners had rejected Chelsea’s initial advances for the England international. However the reigning Premier League champions have stepped up their interest as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had a fantastic season for Arsenal last year, playing in a variety of positions, including right wing, central midfield, and even as a right wing back.
Arsenal are keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but with just one year remaining on his current deal, and the Gunners being reluctant to meet his wage demands, they could be forced to cash in or face losing him for nothing next summer.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been frustrated by the lack of transfer activity at Stamford Bridge. They have failed with their attempts to bring in a number of defenders this summer, including Alex Sandro, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo.
