Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has insisted that he is enjoying his new role under Maurizio Sarri.
France international Kante has established himself as arguably the best defensive midfielder in Europe in recent seasons, but has found himself being asked to play in a more attacking inside right position by Sarri this season to accommodate £57 million summer signing Jorginho, a player who Chelsea’s new manager brought with him from his former club Napoli.
At times Kante has looked a little out of place when asked to contribute to his teams attacking play, although the 27-year-old has revealed that he is enjoying the challenge of playing in a new position.
“I am enjoying the role [under Sarri],” he told Sky Sports at Monday night’s FIFA ‘The Best’ Awards in London.
“It is a new challenge for me.
“I try to understand the move and the right players’ combinations.
“I think we are doing well. We need to keep working and keep improving and I think we can enjoy a good season together.”
