Chelsea interim manager Calum McFarlane revealed that both Reece James and Levi Colwill look “promising” for a return from injury ahead of this weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest.
The Blues host the Tricky Trees at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Monday, with kickoff slated for 8pm.
There are a number of injury concerns facing Chelsea ahead of the match, but McFarlane confirmed that captain James has returned to training this week and Colwill is closing in on a return to action.
James has been out of action since sustaining a hamstring injury against Newcastle United in mid-March, while Colwill has missed the entirety of the 2025/26 campaign with a serious knee issue.

“Reece James is back in training. Levi Colwill is also looking promising,” McFarlane said in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
“We are taking it day by day. Levi had a long injury and Reece had a really good run before getting injured again. A lot of games are still to play so we don’t want to push too much.”
