Chelsea prepared to pay Hazard £500,000-a-week says leading journo

Chelsea are prepared to make Eden Hazard the World’s best-paid football player in order to get the mercurial attacker to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge says the Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law.

Hazard has established himself as one of Europe’s best players since joining Chelsea from Lille in 2012, winning two Premier League titles and the PFA Player Of The Year award.

However, the 27-year-old has been stalling on signing an extension to his current Stamford Bridge contract that runs until the end of next season for the best part of year now.

There has been plenty of speculation linking the Blues number 10 with a move to Real Madrid, with Hazard even admitting after the World Cup that it has always been his dream to play for the 13 time European Champions.

However, Law has revealed that Chelsea are so desperate to keep hold of their star man that they are prepared to pay him up to £500,000 per week in order to convince him to stay in West London.

“I think Chelsea would try to make him the best-paid player in the world, if it means they keep him,” Law said on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement.

“There’s no chance he’ll go in January but possibly next summer. Chelsea would pay him £500,00-a-week in order to keep him. They’d do anything.”
