Chelsea handed Sarri and Koulibaly ultimatum

Chelsea’s attempts to lure Napoli’s coach Maurizio Sarri and centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to London this summer may well hinge on whether or not the Blues qualify for the Champions League next season.

Sarri is highly rated after impressing since taking over at the Serie A side in 2015, and is one of the favourites to replace Antonio Conte in the Stamford Bridge hot seat this summer.

Chelsea also have a long standing interest in Napoli’s star centre-back Koulibaly who has played an integral part in Napoli’s remergence as of Italy’s top club sides in recent years.

However, the Senegal international’s agent has suggested that the Blues failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League may well put any potential deal in jeopardy.

“There’s always a need to refresh things at a club, and that implies a change of players or staff, but I have no information about Napoli, although they certainly need to improve,” Koulibaly’s agent Bruno Satin stated on Radio CRC.

“Koulibaly, Sarri and Hysaj to Chelsea? I don’t know anything, neither do I know if Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League or not.

“It’s important to understand how the season will end because important players want to play the Champions League.”

Chelsea of course face an up hill battle to finish in the top four this season and ultimately qualify Europes most prestigious competition. They currently sit in fifth place and are reliant on both Liverpool and Spurs dropping points over the final weeks of the season.
