Chelsea goalkeeper ‘on verge’ of Strasbourg transfer

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is close to joining French side Strasbourg.

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is close to joining French side Strasbourg.

Jorgensen has left Chelsea’s pre-season training camp to finalise a move to the Ligue 1 side. The Denmark international has struggled for opportunities at Chelsea since arriving from Villarreal for a fee of around £20m in 2024, making only 11 league appearances across two seasons.

Jorgensen had expressed his interest in an exit for a first-choice role and is set for Strasbourg, who are owned by Chelsea’s BlueCo owners.

The 24-year-old will replace Mike Penders, who spent last season on loan in France from Chelsea. The latter has linked back up with Chelsea for pre-season as he aims to impress Xabi Alonso and battle Robert Sanchez for the number one role.

Fabrizio Romano has reported Jorgensen’s move to Strasbourg is imminent, with an agreement described as ‘almost done’.
