Chelsea have emerged as the favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, according to reports today.

The USA international, who impressed in Thursday night’s friendly defeat to England, has refused to enter new contract negotiations with Dortmund with his current deal set to expire in 2020.

The 20-year-old winger has widely been regarded as one of world football’s rising stars but has lost his place in the Dortmund team this season due to the emergence of England’s Jadon Sancho.

Pulisic has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, and the Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea are in pole position for his signature, ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.

The American has previously spoken of a desire to play in England, having been with Dortmund since he was 16, describing the Premier League as a “league where lots of kids dream of playing”.

It appears Chelsea have moved to the front of the queue to seal his signing, although it is believed that Pulisic’s arrival at Stamford Bridge will have no impact upon Eden Hazard’s future at the club amidst ongoing talk of a move to Real Madrid.

The Blues are keen to get a deal done quickly and hope to sign Pulisic in January, with the club facing the threat of a potential transfer ban.
