Philippe Coutinho could be on his way back to the Premier League following a less than impressive first full season with Barcelona.ย
Chelsea are said to be interested in facilitating the Brazilian playmaker’s return to English football, according to a report in theย Independent.
Coutinho, who signed for the Catalan club from Liverpool for ยฃ105m last January, has not shot the lights out at Camp Nou since his arrival, and rumours of an exit this summer have been circulating.
Now the Blues are believed to be interested in making that a reality, following the revelation that Eden Hazard has “made a decision” on his future.
The Belgian has not revealed what that decision entails, but it is assumed that Chelsea’s star player will make his long-awaited move to Real Madrid for a fee in the region of ยฃ100m this summer.
Coutinho could be the ideal replacement for Hazard at Stamford Bridge, if not as a like-for-like player then certainly in terms of Premier League experience and star power.
Liverpool are not believed to be interested in bringing the 26-year-old back to Merseyside, while Barcelona have publicly stated the midfielder is not for sale.
