Chelsea are eyeing a move for Germany international defender Benjamin Heinrichs according to reports today.
The Bayer Leverkusen full-back is an exciting prospect in the Bundesliga, and despite the wealth of talent within the Germany squad, made his international debut back in 2016.
He only signed a contract extension until 2022 with Leverkusen last summer, having being with the club since he was just eight. That deal however contains a very affordable release clause of £31 million, leaving his club resigned to losing him.
Now, according to The Sun, Chelsea will make a move to sign the defender in the summer, with the hope that he will challenge Victor Moses as the club’s regular right-back/wing-back.
Antonio Conte brought in Emerson Palmieri from Roma back in January to provide competition for Marcos Alonso, and the Italian has done well, especially in recent weeks, and the Blues hope for a similar effect on the other side with Heinrichs.
