Chelsea are eager to agree a new contract with Levi Colwill amid interest in the defender from Barcelona.
The Spanish side have shortlisted Colwill as a potential option as Barcelona court a long-term partner for Pau Cubarsi in central defence. Hansi Flick wants to sign a natural left-sided centre-back with Colwill on the club’s radar.
According to CaughtOffside, Barceona consider Colwill a top target, though Chelsea have no interest in a sale. The West Londonders value the 23-year-old in excess of £65m and would not entertain any offers below that mark.
Chelsea want to keep Colwill, but a big bid could see them reconsider that stance, given his status as an academy product and the accounting benefits of selling a club-produced asset. Liverpool have also been linked with Colwill as the Reds look for a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.
Despite Chelsea’s defensive issues this season, Colwill has impressed statistically. He ranks third in the Premier League among all centre-backs for percentage of defensive duels won and through passes completed.
