Chelsea defender Rudiger warns teammates against over reliance on Eden Hazard’s goals

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has warned his teammates that they shouldn’t become over-reliant on Eden Hazard’s goals and has asked the likes of Olivier Giroud, Alvaro Morata and Willian to start chipping in.

Chelsea have so far scored 15 goals in their seven Premier League games this season, although only Eden Hazard (6) and Pedro (3) have scored more than one, with N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Alvaro Morata, Marcos Alonso and Alvaro Morata scoring one goal apiece.

While few expected Chelsea to be title contenders this season, they are still unbeaten in the league and look capable of challenging. However, Germany international Rudiger has said that his teammates will have to lighten the goalscoring burden on the mercurial Belgian.

“We need to learn to kill matches,โ€ said Rudiger. “Itโ€™s not only on Edenโ€™s shoulders. We need the other players to help him with scoring.

“He has been doing his job very well again, but the other guys must score too โ€“ Giroud, Morata, Willian have to score. As a team all of us have to provide more goals, the defenders as well.

“At the end of the day the best scorers are Hazard and Pedro, but with the quality of players we have on the pitch, itโ€™s not too good.”
