Benfica are exploring a deal to sign Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, as Marco Silva seeks a reunion.
Silva worked with Adarabioyo at former club Fulham, before the defender’s free transfer move to Chelsea in 2024. The 28-year-old made only eight Premier League starts last season and it remains to be seen how he features in Xabi Alonso’s plans.
Chelsea have signed Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace in a £52m deal to add defensive depth, though Trevoh Chalobah has departed for Como. Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are also expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.
Adarabioyo was an important part of Silva’s side at Fulham and CM Jornal claim the new Benfica boss wants a reunion. Benfica have sold Antonio Silva to Bournemouth and are seeking a replacement at the heart of their defence.
However, a deal has been described as ‘difficult’ with Adarabioyo under contract until 2028 at Stamford Bridge.
