Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig with the forward having signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
The France international has signed for Chelsea in a deal worth around £52m, following an impressive period in the Bundesliga.
Nkunku was named as the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season during the 2021/22 campaign after scoring 35 goals in all competitions for Leipzig, before finishing as the division’s joint-leading scorer last season in another prolific campaign.
The forward’s goals have helped Leipzig to consecutive DFB-Pokal titles across the last two seasons, the first major honours in the club’s history.
He previously spent four seasons at Paris Saint-Germain and told the club’s official website that he is ‘excited’ for the challenge that awaits in the Premier League.
“I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea,” the 25-year-old said.
“A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.
“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”
