James Rodriguez could be on his way to Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to Spanish publication AS, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Rodriguez from Real Madrid. The Colombian attacking midfielder wants to play more football having made just 13 La Liga starts last season. He has been unable to cement a place in the side under Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid are very interested in signing teenage sensation Kylian Mbappé from AS Monaco and the sale of Rodriguez would help to finance that move.
Chelsea will be in the Champions League next season, so the acquisition of a talented player such as Rodriguez can greatly improve their squad depth.
The Blues were also targeting Alvaro Morata but he seems to be heading to Old Trafford for a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho. Jose Mourinho is believed to have made a £60million offer for the Spain striker.
Real Madrid are keen to offload James Rodriguez and if he can adapt to the Premier League, he will be an excellent signing for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
