New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been discussing what the Blues’ new £57 million midfielder Jorghino will bring to Stamford Bridge next season.
Sarri of course worked with the Brazilian born Italy international during the last few seasons at Napoli, where Jorginho was the man who made last years Serie A runners up tick, with his impressive range of passing.
The 26-year-old has developed a reputation as one of Europes best deep lying playmakers in recent seasons, and Chelsea had to fend off interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United to secure his signature.
While Sarri has admitted that the Blues newest recruit is not most physically gifted player, the Italian coach revealed that he has brought Jorginho to London so that he can use his intelligence and passing ability to implement his preferred style of football:
“Jorginho is not a physical player, he is a technical player,” he told the London Evening Standard.
“The most important quality is that he is very quick in the mind. So he has the ability to move the ball very quickly.
“I think at Naples I was very lucky to find many players very adapted to my way of football. Very strong as players, but very strong from a human point of view.
“So I think I was lucky to transport my way of football, my idea of football on the pitch.”
