Maurizio Sarri and his Chelsea team welcome Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Chelsea boss spoke to the media today, ahead of that game.
Sarri gave reporters an update on Chelsea’s squad fitness and, in particular, Antonio Rudiger’s progress as he makes his way back to full fitness from a knock picked up at West Ham.
“Yesterday he had the training in the second part with the team. We have to see the last training. I think there is the possibility to recover.” Sarri told reporters.
Sarri also spoke about how Andreas Christensen, Pedro, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are, before Saturday’s game.
“Christensen was not injured, he had only a stomach ache during the match. Pedro yesterday had the last part of the training with the team, like Rudiger and like Loftus-Cheek. We need to see the last training before we decide, but they are almost ready so the situation is better than three or four days ago.”
Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and Sarri will be hoping for more of the same, this weekend. Liverpool are considered to be the main competitors to Manchester City’s Premier League crown but Chelsea have started this season brilliantly and if they can take all three points on Saturday it will be time for the rest of the top flight to sit up and take notice.
