Chelsea have sent scouts to watch in-demand Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in action this season.
Williams is on the radar of several English clubs with Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa all credited with an interest in signing the Spaniard, and Chelsea have now entered the race to sign 21-year-old in the summer.
“Arsenal have also sent their scouts to follow Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao multiple times, and it’s the same for Chelsea as they included him in the list last summer,” Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside.
Williams leads La Liga for goal-creating actions this season and ranks second in Spain’s top division for successful take-ons, following another eye-catching campaign in the Basque Country.
He has scored three league goals and laid on six assists, with only three players having created more goals in La Liga this season.
Athletic Bilbao will demand a high price for the winger, who signed a new long-term deal with the Spanish side earlier this season. Williams’ asking price could rise further with a successful European Championship with Spain, for who he has scored twice in 11 caps, this summer.
