Chelsea are expected to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Garnacho does not form part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the new season and is keen to leave Old Trafford for Chelsea. Despite initial talks between the clubs, no agreement has been reached on a fee. Garnacho, however, has given his approval to the move.

Despite a difference in valuation, journalist Andy Mitten has confirmed that Garnacho is expected to join Chelsea in the upcoming days.

Speaking to the Talk of the Devils podcast, he said: “I think Garnacho, from people I’ve spoken to, will go to Chelsea. But they are nowhere near what Manchester United want, at the moment, in terms of their offer.”

Manchester United are understood to value Garnacho at around £50m. The Argentina international scored 11 goals in 58 games for the Red Devils last season, but irked head coach Amorim for his comments in the wake of the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May. Garnacho questioned the decision to name him as a substitute for that clash.

Chelsea are working on incomings and outgoings before the deadline. In addition to Garnacho, the West Londoners want to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Arrivals could hinge on the ability to offload players with Tyrique George and Christopher Nkunku in talks to leave.
