Christopher Nkunku is set to stay at Chelsea beyond the transfer deadline despite interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The Frenchman has expressed interest in leaving Chelsea after struggling for status this season. Nkunku has started just three times in the Premier League with Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer preferred. However, he boasts a prolific record with 13 goals from 13 starts across all competitions.

Bayern Munich enquired about a deal to bring the former RB Leipzig striker back to the Bundesliga, though a deal hinged on Mathys Tel’s future with the German side.

Manchester United also held talks with Chelsea over Nkunku, amid the West London side’s interest in signing Alejandro Garnacho.

Sky Sports are reporting that both teams are likely to be frustrated in their attempts to sign the forward. Chelsea are reluctant to let Nkunku leave without a replacement lined up.

Chelsea are expected to be among the busier clubs on deadline day with several players nearing exits from Stamford Bridge.

Ben Chilwell is undergoing a medical at Crystal Palace ahead of a loan move for the left-back, while Spurs and Aston Villa have submitted loan bids for Axel Disasi. Another outgoing will be Carney Chukwuemeka who is set to sign on loan for Borussia Dortmund.
