Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is on the verge of making a shock move to AC Milan according to sources in Italy.

The Premier League duo of Chelsea and Manchester City have both been linked with having an interest in the Italian defender over the past 12 months, but a move away from the Serie A champions.

Since then, City have spent £50m on John Stones, while Chelsea have splashed £32m on bringing Antonio Rudiger from Roma.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a well respected journalist in Italy, claims that a deal to take the 30-year-old to the San Siro is a done deal.

It is thought that the deal to take Bonucci to the Rossoneri could be worth up to €40m. AC Milan, backed by Chinese investors, have already spent over €120m this summer, after bringing in Andre Silva, Hakan Calhanoglu, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andrea Conti and Mateo Musacchio, as they look to return to the pinnacle of Italian and European football.
