Despite recently forcing his way back into the plans of his manager Jose Mourinho, talented left-back Luke Shaw has been linked with a move to Chelsea or Arsenal today.

According to the Daily Mirror, negotiation’s over a new contract for the England international at Old Trafford have stalled. Shaw has had a topsy turvy relationship with his Portuguese manager, although Mourinho has been quick to praise the former Southampton man in recent weeks – even admitting recently that his upturn in form would earn him an extension to his current deal at Old Trafford.

However, with talks over a new contract having hit the rocks, both Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be interested in making a summer move for the 22-year-old.

The Gunners are in the market for a left-back to give competition to Nacho Monreal, with Arsene Wenger having had to resort to playing Ainsley Maitland-Niles – an attacking midfielder by trade – at the back at times this season.

Although just why Chelsea, who already have the excellent Marcos Alonso and new signing Emerson Palmieri competing for the left wing-back position, are interested in Shaw remains unclear.
