Chelsea give Derby permission to play loanees Mount and Tomori in Carabao Cup clash

Chelsea have granted permission to Derby to select young loanees Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori for their Carabao Cup fourth-round tie.

Both 19-year-old midfielder Mount and 20-year-old defender Tomori have been in eye-catching form for Derby since moving to Pride Park on season-long loans during the summer.

Highly-rated youngster Mount’s performances have in fact been so impressive that he was recently called into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for their recent UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.

Rams manager is, of course, Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer Frank Lampard and according to Sky Sports, the 40-year-old coach has used his Stamford Bridge connections to convince his former employers to allow the talented duo to feature in their upcoming clash – something which is normally prohibited in the Premier League.

Derby defeated Championship leaders Sheffield United this weekend to move up to fifth in the table at the weekend and the Rams caused one of the Greatest League Cup upsets in the last round when they knocked out Manchester United at Old Trafford on penalties.

The tie will take place on Wednesday 31st October at Stamford Bridge.
