Chelsea have agreed a £50m deal with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa.
The Spanish striker was heavily linked with a move to Atletico in the summer, but with the La Liga sides transfer embargo meaning that he would be unable to play for them until January, a deal was unable to be agreed.
Costa has refused to return to England since being told by Antonio Conte back in May that he was no longer a part of his plans goin forward, a decision that was delivered to the 29-year-old via a text message.
However, a statement released on the club’s website now confirms that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs.
“Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa.
“The transfer will be subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical.”
It is believed that the deal to take Costa to the Atletico’s new home at the Wanda Metropolitano is worth €55million (£50m), and will be finalised on January 1st when the transfer window reopens.
