Jamie Carragher believes the title race is slightly in Manchester City’s favour after the champions reignited their title hopes with their 2-1 win over leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Goals in each half from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane, either side of a Roberto Firmino reply, allowed Pep Guardiola’s side to close the gap to four points on their Merseyside rivals.
The defeat was the first of the campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but former Liverpool defender Carragher believes the result may have tipped the balance in favour of the Manchester side.
“Looking at it now – four points… I think we’ve probably said since the start of the season that City are the best team in this league,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“I think it’s maybe 50/50, maybe slightly in City’s favour, they will fancy their chances.
“I think what we haven’t had for a couple of years is a real title race. The last few years, Chelsea under [Antonio] Conte ran away with it and City last season… finally it feels like we may have one this season.”
