Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Real Madrid do not need to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer and says his side already ‘have the best players in the world’.
Mbappe continues to be heavily linked with a summer move to the Spanish side as the forward approaches the end of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The France captain has been a long-term target for Real Madrid who have tried previously to sign the striker. No announcement has been made on Mbappe’s future beyond this season, though there is an expectation that the 25-year-old will sign for Real Madrid after a decorated career in Paris.
PSG have not given up hope of persuading the forward to sign a new deal, however, while Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation.
Mbappe has scored a club-record 242 goals in 289 games for PSG and has ended the last five seasons as Ligue 1’s leading scorer.
However, Ancelotti – who watched his side thrash second-placed Girona 4-0 to take control of the La Liga title race at the weekend – said his team do not need Mbappe.
The Italian believes his squad already contains the ‘best players in the world’ and named his current frontline as the world’s finest.
“You keep asking about a player who plays for another team,” Ancelotti said in a press conference.
“We already have the best players in the world here. In order: Vini Jr first, Bellingham second, Rodrygo third. Then Kroos, Valverde, Camavinga…”
