Caicedo negotiations ‘moving’ between Chelsea and Brighton

Negotiations between Chelsea and Brighton over the transfer of Moises Caicedo are ‘moving’ as the clubs remain locked in talks over a deal.

Chelsea are chasing a deal to sign the Ecuador international and are in discussions with Brighton, though the two teams are yet to reach an agreement over the fee.

Brighton will demand a record sale for the midfielder, with a fixed fee of £70m ‘not enough’ to convince the Seagulls.

However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that there has been progress on a potential deal with negotiations ‘moving’ in the right direction. Romano has revealed that any agreement is set to contain a large fixed fee with additional add-ons.

Brighton turned down bids from Arsenal and Chelsea for Caicedo during the January transfer window, but have reluctantly accepted that the 21-year-old will depart this summer.

The midfielder was excellent last season as the Seagulls secured European qualification for the first time, ranking second in the Premier League for both tackles and interceptions.

Caicedo has made clear his desire for a move to Chelsea and this week admitted that he ‘can’t say no’ to a move to Stamford Bridge.

“It’s a big team, that’s true,” Caicedo told TC Deportes.

“A very historic team which I can’t say no [to joining] because it’s a very big, historic, beautiful team.

“The city as well is beautiful. It’s got everything beautiful.”
