Moises Caicedo has said Chelsea must learn from defeat to Tottenham and admits the Blues were punished for switching off.
Chelsea crashed to a 2-0 defeat in Saturday’s London Derby, as a Mike Penders own goal and late strike from Mathys Tel secured Spurs only a second league win at Stamford Bridge in 36 years.
Defeat halted a two-game winning run for Xabi Alonso’s side, who had Cole Palmer sent off. Reflecting on the result, Caicedo conceded the performance showed Chelsea still have plenty of improvements to make.
“We need to be focused during the whole game because if you switch off for one second, you get punished,” he told chelseafc.com.
“We need to learn from this because we need to stop this from happening and we need to maintain the clean sheet for the whole game.
“It was a tough one, but we need to keep going because there are more games in front of us and we want to do better.’
“Everybody knows what we need to improve. We are going to think about this game because we need to be up there in the table. We need to learn from this and for sure we are going to be up there [at the end of the season].”
