Burnley beat Brighton 1-0 at Turf Moor in the Premier League today.
The win ended The Clarets’ eight-game winless run and lifted them out of the relegation zone.
James Tarkowski scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute to secure the victory for Sean Dyche’s side. The Burnley centre-back spoke after the game about how important today’s win was for his team.
“It was a tough afternoon. We had to get a goal and hold on. We know we have not been playing great recently so it was a massive day and big three points,” Tarkowski told Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old English defender also acknowledged the part played by the Burnley faithful at Turf Moor.
“Our fans have been massive for us. We need them behind us.” He added.
Next up for Burnley is a tough trip to Wembley to face Spurs next Saturday.
Dyche’s men had only kept one clean sheet in their previous ten games so they’ll be delighted to have shut out an in-form Brighton team who had scored five goals in their last two games.
