PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has named Liverpool and Manchester City among the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Buffon is one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the beautiful game and is currently winding down his illustrious career in Paris after spending 17 trophy-laden seasons with Italian giants Juventus.

However, the one trophy that has so far eluded the 40-year-old is the Champions League, with the 176 cap Italy international having lost in the final three times.

Speaking ahead of his sides Group C clash with Liverpool tonight Buffon revealed that he is happy he is still in with a chance of lifting Europe’s most prestigious prize.

“This season, I see the favourites for the Champions League as Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester City. Liverpool as well have a big chance and you can never forget about Real Madrid,” Buffon told the Daily Mirror.

“Of course it is still a dream of mine to win the Champions League – last season I thought would be my last chance but now I have another one.”
