A first home game in three weeks brings a familiar opponent for Brighton, who have not lost to Leeds United at the Amex Stadium in over a decade.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side will look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season, having been beaten 4-3 at Chelsea last time out. Hurzeler has praised Daniel Farke’s Leeds as a “hardworking team” who “don’t give away a lot of chances,” and expects Saturday’s game to be “a fight” despite his own side’s attacking pedigree so far this season.

Jack Hinshelwood, Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma, Mats Wieffer, Stefanos Tzimas and Evan Ferguson are all sidelined through injury, with Wieffer not expected back until after next month’s international break. Georginio Rutter and Yasin Ayari are both doubts having missed the defeat at Chelsea, though Hurzeler sounded encouraged about Ayari’s chances of involvement, saying of his ankle knock: “He could finish the game against Tromso, so hopefully it’s not that bad.”
Costinha could be handed his first start at right-back in Wieffer’s absence, while new signings Chema Andres and Femi Azeez are both in contention to feature, most likely from the bench. Pascal Gross, who scored and set up a goal against Chelsea, continues in midfield and is closing in on 250 Premier League appearances. Charalampos Kostoulas remains an option up front should Rutter not be risked from the start.
